Many public schools and their teachers, prevent students from speaking about their faith in the classroom, wearing clothes with statements about their faith or writing about their faith. This is against the law and is religious discrimination. The schools falsely believe the law says you can't do this but in actuality the law says the teachers can't.
The same rule does not apply to the student. Students are free to wear expressions of their faith or talk about their faith. Furthermore, if they are asked to write on a subject of their choice and their faith fits into that subject then they are free to write on it. Usually a letter to the school will clear this up.
